Members of Kensington Arts Theatre came away winners Sunday evening taking home four awards for its production of Sunday in the Park with George and one award for its world premiere production of Night of the Living Dead, The Musical, at the annual WATCH Awards ceremony.
Craig Pettinati, director of Sunday, tied for Outstanding Direction of a Musical with Christopher Dykton of The Arlington Players for their production of A Little Night Music. Other awards for Sunday included Outstanding Sound Design of a Musical, Outstanding Costume Design of a Musical and Outstanding Special Effects in a Musical. The award for Outstanding Light Design of a Musical was given to Kevin Boyce for his work in Night (see previous post for our 18 nominations).

The 2012 Washington Area Theatre Community Honors, or WATCH Awards as they are commonly referred, recognizes outstanding work by community theaters in the Washington, DC area. Awards were announced at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia on Sunday, March 17, 2013. A total of 126 productions from 2012, including 83 plays and 43 musicals, were judged by the 33 community theater member companies.
